The Mechanical Engineering and Technology Research Information Center was established in November of 1977, under the joint sponsorship of the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation and Pusan National University. It aims to develop a database of domestic and overseas research information on mechanical engineering, provide the information to its members through the Internet, and build an information distribution system in cooperation with domestic and overseas universities, research organizations, and industries.





The center collects, categorizes, processes, and distributes mechanical engineering information generated in Korea and overseas in a systematic manner through links to the information networks of libraries, research organizations, and industries dedicated to mechanical engineering. It pursues higher global competitiveness by facilitating information exchanges between domestic researchers involved in mechanical engineering, and cooperation between academia, research institutes, and industry.





Its major research activities include the collection and processing of diverse information, including information on domestic and overseas papers; the hosting of conferences; the collection of research data, including patents; the collection of data on academic events, such as seminars and workshops; and the collection of information about the researchers involved in mechanical engineering, including their academic achievements, job information, and data on research facilities, such as the status of research equipment. The center distributes this information to its members, and pursues the expansion of the research information and the facilitation of its operation by regularly hosting workshops, seminars, and symposiums.
