Micro Electro Mechanical Systems Technology Center Go list page

The Micro Electro Mechanical Systems Technology Center aims to secure global competitiveness by establishing the infrastructure and deploying technologies for the automobile, shipbuilding, bio/medicine, environmental energy related micro machinery and parts industries, for which Busan is a stronghold, as well as to assist the launch of companies specializing in parts and materials R&D, venture companies ("Office Factory"), and foster experts in the above mentioned fields. Furthermore, the Center aims to develop technologies in high value-added MEMS, develop new products and create jobs, thus contributing to the local economy.

Research Scope

1) Research on micro-sensors

- Replace macro-scale sensors with micro-sensors

- Develop sensors for automobiles

- Temperature and humidity sensors for HVAC, oxygen and other exhaust sensors, tilt sensors, and others.

2) Research on Bio MEMS

- Develop parts of finished products of micro medical equipment

3) Research on RF (Radio Frequency) MEMS

- Realize both passive elements (including filters, inductors, switches, capacitors, resonators, antennas) and active elements (such as FET) on a single board

4) Power MEMS

- Research on Power MEMS

- Develop micro engines, including micro fuel ignition systems

5) Develop MEMS technologies using performance polymers

- Develop electro-strictive/piezo-electric polymers for microactuators

- Develop microfluidics elements using performance polymers

6) Develop Mobile HiFi-Stereo Module parts for phones

- Establish a theory of sound that considers the traits of electricity, magnetism, machines, and sound

- Non-linear interpretation through 3D-FEM

- Apply to TV programs, leisure, games, watching films, and listening to MP3s and FM radio
