The Center for Advanced Air-conditioning, Refrigeration & Energy was established with the goal of building and running a tailored industrial-academic cooperation program that integrates and connects activities to secure outstanding talents, re-educate workers, and conduct R&D, to help LG Electronics achieve its objective of becoming one of the leading companies in the world. The Center has moved quickly, establishing a Global R&D Hub to develop source technologies in related industries, fostering core R&D experts of the future who are equipped with creativity, expertise, and an innovative spirit at the LG R&D Graduate School, and discovering outstanding students of the undergraduate school through the LG Track.



Major Activities

1) LG CARE (Center for Advanced Air-conditioning, Refrigeration & Energy)

- Implement strategic R&D in line with the Future New Technology Road Map

- Develop source/difficult technologies, premium products, and establish a Global R&D Hub

- Nurture highly competitive experts by implementing the LG CARE research projects and linking it with recruitment



2) LG R&D Graduate School

- Established the Air-conditioning, Refrigeration & Energy Major, a Korean first

- Develop core R&D experts in the R&D system, and enable rapid technology innovation

- Innovative, creative, and tailored doctoral and master’s degree programs

- 59 graduates (Ph.D. 12, M.A 47) and 61 incumbent students (Ph.D. 20, M.A 41)



3) LG Track

- Discover outstanding undergraduate school students early in their academic careers, and work to foster them

- Operate LG Track, a tailored curriculum to foster outstanding students



4) Global LG Track

- Discover outstanding students at overseas branches, work to foster these students, and link these activities with recruitment

- Secure world-class talent, and achieve globalization through localization

- Target countries: China, Thailand, India, Vietnam, Mexico, Russia, Poland

- Assist with tuition, living expenses, dormitory costs



5) Advanced Air-conditioning and Refrigeration System Development Project (2006. 8 ~ 2011. 7; five years)

- Sponsors: Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Korea Industry Technology Foundation (KOTEF), Busan Metropolitan Government, Pusan National University, LG Electronics

- Develop curriculum and foster the future experts in advanced air-conditioning and refrigeration systems

- Enhance the competitiveness of industries by offering re-education for field engineers and experts, to meet the demands of companies
