The Research Institute for Drug Development aims to contribute to enhancing health and welfare by creating an industrial-academic collaboration center that is the central research center in the local community that conducts basic research for the development of new drugs as well as research on the application of pharmaceutical technologies.



The Research Institute has four research divisions for new drug development, each of which is endowed with a specific mission. The Research Institute receives R&D funding from and conducts joint research with numerous institutions including National Research Foundation of Korea, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health & Welfare, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Korea National Institute of Health, National Cancer Center and research centers at private-sector pharmaceutical companies. The main research scopes of each research division are as follows:



- Study of properties and nurturing methods of natural products

- Discovery of drugs from microbial sources

- Synthesis of inorganic and organic drugs

- Molecular modeling of chemical structures and bioactivities

- Pharmacological study of the action mechanisms of bioactive compounds

- Research on the safety and bolization of drugs

- Development of pharmaceutical technologies

- Study of physical properties and quality management of drugs
