Research Institute of Nursing Science Go list page

 The Research Institute of Nursing Science was established on June 19, 2000, with the aim of promoting the academic development of nursing science, developing nursing researchers and instructors, and contributing to applied nursing research.



 The institute has a president, an operating committee, and 12 chief researchers who are faculty members. The institute focuses on research for public health, chronic disease treatment, home healthcare services, the development and application of nursing information system, contracted research for external organizations including government agencies and the Korea Research Foundation, and joint research with industry.



 The academic events hosted by the institute have included the Seminar to Commemorate the Foundation of the Research Institute of Nursing Science, which was held from October 16 to 17, 2000; an international symposium titled “Developing Successful Research Proposals - Critical Issues in Writing Research Proposals,” which was held from June 25 to 27, 2001; three domestic seminars held in 2003; an international symposium in 2005 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the nursing department; two international seminars in 2006; one international seminar in 2007; and an International Nursing Conference: Writing Nursing Research in English that was held in June of 2008. The institute has met the academic needs of nursing majors in the Busan and Gyeongnam areas, and has strengthened the research capability of the region by hosting a wide range of domestic and international seminars each year.



 To strengthen the nursing research abilities of graduate students, the institute has hosted workshops on statistics every year. In 2008, the institute established a basic educational program for infectious disease control at hospitals, in order to improve the occupational capability of hospital workers in the area of infectious disease control, which is a critical factor determining the quality of healthcare and nursing services.



 The Silver Leisure Industry Promotion Forum, hosted by the institute, has been designated as a key local industrial forum by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy. The institute also operates a “Healthcare & Tourism Coordinator Development Program,” which Busan Metropolitan City supports as part of its HR development initiative.
