The Center for Japanese Studies was established to provide a foundation for establishing a future-oriented partnership between Korea and Japan, through interdisciplinary and practical Japanese studies and education for mutual understanding of citizens of both Korea and Japan, recovery of trust between the two nations, and promotion of mutual exchange.



Major research areas include Korean-Japanese special products, Korean-Japanese culture, and Japanese studies by area, and the center is carrying out various activities in this area, such as academic research presentation meetings and invitational lecture meetings. Moreover, the center has opened a focused lecture system on Japanese studies, invitational special lecture, and regular lectures on Japanese studies, by installing a Japanese language training institute.



Domestic and foreign exchange projects include movement for correct understanding of Japan, introduction of traditional and modern Japanese culture, exchange between Japanese research institutions in Korea and Japan, and support of Korean studies research institutions in Japan. The center is also carrying out a project for implementing an information system for providing relevant information through the implementation of a database related to Japan.
