The Department of Language and Information was established in 1992 as the Department of Language, and was renamed the Department of Language and Information in 2001.
The department aims to produce graduates who can contribute to the information society of the 21st century, to improve the logical thinking ability of students through education and practice in basic language skills, and to build a firm foundation for Korean and foreign language studies to meet the needs of the era of the globalization.
The department focuses on general language studies and professional knowledge in computational linguistics. Through the theoretical education and practice of language studies, the department plays a pivotal role in the development of both theoretical and applied linguistics. Major courses include Grammar, Computational Linguistics, Semantics, Letters and Culture, Korean as a Second Language Education, and Understanding Verbal Remediation. The department also develops the practical language skills of students through courses on language practice.
Graduates of the department can continue their studies at graduate school, or work as translators, interpreters, Korean language instructors, and verbal therapists, contributing to society as professionals leading the era of globalization.
