Objective of Education
The objective of an education in sociology is to develop a comprehensive view of social phenomena, through a systematic and critical analysis of diverse social phenomena. The department also aims to develop talented individuals who are equipped with the capability to actively apply sociological knowledge to society, and are thus able to contribute to the development of Korean society and humankind. To achieve the above objectives, the curriculum covers diverse areas such as industry, urban phenomena, sex, social ideologies, labor, culture, and micro-sociology, based on sociological theories and methodologies. In particular, the department provides students with opportunities for participation, in order to allow them to plan their own college life through club activities, events, and student council activities as well as academic research.
