Aerospace engineering is the study of all types of flying s, including airplanes, satellites, missiles, and helicopters. The Department of Aerospace Engineering was established in 1989, and currently operates an undergraduate program, a Master’s program, a Doctorate program, and a combined Master’s and Doctorate program. Since it was established, the department has played a pivotal role in producing experts for the domestic aerospace engineering industry. In order to nurture the next generation of innovative and creative aerospace engineers who can play a leading role in research, design, and production, the department offers both theoretical and practical sessions that provide students with basic scientific and engineering knowledge that can be broadly applied to a diverse range of industrial fields. The department has the educational ives of giving students a basic understanding of aerospace engineering knowledge and technology through education on the ion, analysis, and solution of engineering issues; the capability to actively respond to the era of informatization and globalization, with excellent computer skills and foreign language skills; and innovation and creativity supported by a broad general knowledge base, an ethical approach, and a global sensibility. Most notably, the department has operated the major program certified by Accreditation Board of Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK) since 2003, generating proven talents and contributing to the development of the aerospace engineering sector. The major research areas of the department include the guidance and control of flying vehicles, applied and computational aerodynamics, analysis of the structure of flying vehicles and materials, propellers of flying vehicles, combustion analysis, and helicopter aerodynamics. Through its excellent research achievements, the department has contributed to the advancement of aerospace engineering.
