The Department of Korean Language Education was established in 1972, with the aim of producing middle and high school teachers capable of teaching the Korean language. Since it was established, it has attracted the largest number of high school graduates from across the nation, including Busan, Seoul, Gyeongsangnam-do, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Jellanam-do, Jeollabuk-do, Jeju-do, and Gangwon-do areas. Currently, more than 800 graduates of the department are showing their capabilities in positions in the field. Most of its graduates are serving as middle and high school teachers in Busan, and teaching the Korean language. Some graduates are serving at middle and high schools located in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi-do, as well as Gyeongsangnam-do. Some graduates are in high-profile positions with broadcasting companies, news agencies, businesses, and research institutions, while some are poets, novelists, playwrights, and critics. Graduates of the department can choose from a diverse range of options for their future career. Some graduates continue their studies at graduate school, at PNU, Seoul National University, other universities located in Seoul, or at foreign universities.
