The Department of French Language Education was established in 1970 as the French Language Major, in the Department of Foreign Language Education of the College of Education. It was separated to become the Department of French Language Education in 1982.
The department pursues academic research on French literature, linguistics, and language pedagogy. The objective of the department is to generate excellent teachers, scholars, and experts who will contribute to the development of the nation and humanity based on a broad knowledge of French literature, French linguistics, French language pedagogy, French history, and French culture. The department is ideal for students with an interest in French literature, language, speaking, and culture, and who strive to become education experts. In particular, applicants for the department should be armed with an aptitude for literature and language studies, an active and creative mind, and integrity. Since 1970, the department has produced more than 500 graduates, who are now serving as professors, middle and high school teachers, public officers, and capable executives and employees of private enterprises.
