- Design Computing Convergence Track
As technological development removes the limitations of time and space, the world is getting smaller. The Department of Design offers education in design methodologies to create new values in this rapidly changing environment by understanding human lifestyles of the past, the present, and the future, so that students can organically combine diverse values from the oriental and the western worlds, science, and the arts. The department anticipates the rapidly-changing needs of modern society, and creates new theories and educational methodologies through in-depth research in design as well as through exchanges with professionals in other fields. The department aims to nurture responsible designers who will create works that can be organically combined with the living environment based on a thorough understanding of the mechanisms of new technologies.
The department operates two majors, the Visual Design Major and the Animation Design Major. The Ph.D. program and Image Information Major (undergraduate) were added in 2007, enabling broader and more diverse design education. The department was also designated as a target organization for the “Cultural Contents Development & Education Institute Support Project” by the government, which enables it to build infrastructure for related organizations and businesses, and thus to strengthen the foundation for the cultural industry by developing the experts required by the cultural contents industry in the region.
