The School of Computer Science and Engineering was established to produce the experts who will lead the development of the advanced computer science and engineering sector, by providing a thorough education on the academic theories and professional skills related to computer hardware and software, which will be the key tools of the information-based society of the future. The school currently has 24 faculty members, over 140 students in the Master’s and Doctorate programs, and over 580 undergraduate students, and strives to offer an in-depth theoretical and practical education. The school participated in the Phase 1 BK 21 (Brain Korea 21) Project of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology from 1999 to 2006, and has also been designated as a participant in the Phase 2 BK 21 Project, which runs from 2006 to 2013. In addition, Institute of Logistics Information Techology, which was mainly based in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, was ed as a Local Research-Centric University Project of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. The government has pledged to provide support to the team from 2004 to 2014. The school is seizing this opportunity of participation in a large-scale national project as a turning point in its history, and is striving to become a leader in the field, both domestically and globally. In particular, the school has significantly expanded its undergraduate program in order to proactively respond to the rapidly growing demand in the private sector for high-quality IT experts, and is operating the Samsung ICT Track in partnership with Samsung Electronics. More than 95 percent of students receive job offers before graduating, and more than 70 percent of graduates who get jobs join large enterprises, such as Samsung and LG. The school will continuously strive to realize the vision of Pusan National University by serving as a vital hub for education and research.
